14-year old boy shot in leg while riding ATV in Arizona desert

A 14-year old boy and his father were riding their ATVs in the desert west of Phoenix, Arizona. They heard gunshots, then the boy felt pain in his leg. When they stopped, they discovered he had been hit by gunfire.

From the article:

They were riding in the desert about 11:30 a.m. near Interstate 10 and Watson Road in Buckeye when they heard gunshots, said Jeff Sprong, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Sprong said the boy began complaining of leg pain, and when his father checked on his condition, a bullet wound was found.

The 14-year-old was driven to the hospital by his father where he was treated and released, officials said.

Sprong said it’s not uncommon for people to go shooting in the area, and a bullet may have ricocheted and struck the boy’s leg.

Bullets don't know when to stop.
