5 year old Ohio boy brings gun to daycare

Luckily, no one was hurt in this Ohio Daycare center when one of its' 5 year old students brought a gun to school and showed other children. From the article:
Police say the child thought it was a cigarette lighter and was showing it to friends at My First Days Day Care in Toledo when administrators saw the weapon.
The boy found the gun in the grass. What is a gun doing in the grass? This one should send shivers up and down the spines of every parent who has a child in day care.

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.

UPDATE (2/26/12): According to THIS article, the gun was a .25-caliber handgun, only about four inches long.
